3rd-gen veggie definitely isn't cheating. Here's to getting 30+ every week.

I currently get to around 20 before lunch. That might sound crazy, but I have a smoothie with kale, watercress, tofu, ginger, linseed, chia seeds, hemp seeds, turmeric & pepper, and mango. Then my breakfast is millet, buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa, pot barley, blueberries, cherries or raspberries, ceylon cinnamon, dried unsweetened cranberries, and a bit more turmeric and ginger, plus soya milk. As a little snack, I'll then have some dates and walnuts. And if I'm still hungry, I'll grab a couple of almonds and pecans as a bonus.

By the end of the day, it's likely 30+. Many of the plants will be similar, with a bit of variation here and there, so perhaps 32-40 over the week, depending on what we get.

I'm loving your illustrations! And thanks for the simple hummus recipe. You can't beat a bit of home made goodness. I'm glad the Ninja is working out for you. I was considering getting one last week, funnily enough. So far I've been persevering with far less capable tech. Sounds like if I can find the coins it'll be worth an upgrade?

Wow! That's a lot, but so good. We've only been doing some fairly basic smoothies, with frozen fruit (and sometimes vegetables and sometimes throwing in some fresh bits like spinach or kiwi). Haven't tried adding seeds yet and the teens hate ginger for some reason (I need to try more ways to hide it as it's so good for you).

I'm also trying to add some seeds and nuts in to more salads. For a while I was avoiding them as they are awful if I'm having a diverticular flare-up. But they're absolutely fine if I'm not and full of goodness, so I need to not be scared of them.

Yes, was really pleased with the Ninja upgrade (our old Kenwood that I've had since I was 15 - yes, for some reason I asked for a food mixer for my 15th birthday - finally gave up), though it's VERY loud. There is one problem with it though, which is that you can't blend hot food in it. I realised I should have got one that would so I could blend hot sauces and soups. Though I use a stick blender usually which works fine, so it's not a huge problem. I went for a mid-range one; if you can afford it would probably go higher, or try to get something that will do a lot of different things.

Ginger doesn't like to hide, but if you start with a much smaller amount and work verrrry slowly up each time, there's hope. The ginger thinks it's on show, yet nobody seems to notice. Hard work, but win-win!

I'm so sorry to hear about your flare-ups. 😔 I hope they're few and far between, leaving plenty time for seeds and all the goodness.

Wow, what a 15th birthday present! As for the Ninja noise, I've read that a LOT and was considering a Nutribullet instead. But for now, my smoothies will remain thick thick thick. I can feel the fear emanating from the straws as I dip them in each time. 😆
